Team India on Day 3 of the tour match against West Indies A decided to give batting opportunity to its test specialists instead of pressing for an outright win. Starting the day with 200 runs lead, team India added 104 runs before declaring at 188/5. West Indies A survived the remaining 21 overs scoring 47/3 before the players shook hands.

For India in the second innings, Hanuma Vihari top scored scoring 64 of 125 balls. Captain Rahane who promoted himself up in the order plodded through the innings scoring 54 of 162 balls. Team India would be hoping for a more fluent inningS from test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane when the first test starts. Centurion from first innings Pujara and Rohit Sharma who got a half-century didn't bat in the second innings. Risabh Pant missed out on scoring big innings when he was run out for 19. Saha and Ashwin also got a hit in the middle, but none of them looked particularly keen to accelerate the run-scoring. For West Indies A, Frazer was the pick of the bowler taking two wickets for 43.

In West Indies A second innings,  Bumrah. Ashwin and Jadeja took a wicket apiece. Overall, Indians will be pleased will be their bowling performance with pacers hitting the mark regularly and spinners too getting into the groove. It is a happy selection headache for Kohli and Shastri when they pick the final eleven for the first test. In the batting department, Agarwal missing out on both innings will be a cause of concern. Pujara though showed that he is in prime form even though he has been out of action from international cricket for a while as India was playing ODI cricket more in the run-up to the World Cup.

The first test starts on 22nd August.
