Girl, 3, missing from Sunshine Coast home

A three-year-old girl has disappeared from her home in the Sunshine Coast hinterland on Monday afternoon.

The girl was reported missing from a property at Cootharaba, owned by her grandparents about 3:30pm.

A massive search was launched when her family could not find her and called police.

Police immediately began searching the home and property and have canvassed neighbouring areas.

A land and air search remained under way on Monday evening, with neighbours donning gumboots and grabbing their torches to help search.

Residents say a helicopter has been flying over nearby properties asking neighbours to search their properties and dams.

The toddler was described as Caucasian, about 76 centimetres tall with blonde curly hair. She was wearing long white pants and a light pink shirt.

Police have made an urgent appeal for anyone who may have seen the girl in the vicinity of Cootharaba Road and Kabi Road to come forward.

An Amber Alert had not been issued.

The girl's disappearance comes as police continue to search for 14-year-old Sunshine Coast teenager Michael Ryan, who was last seen in Landsborough on August 7.

The search for the teenager was ramped up after his bike was found on Saturday in bushland near the small town of Mooloolah Valley.
