FALL RIVER - HealthFirst Family Care Center has received a grant of $112,000 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to increase community access to its substance use disorder services.

The grant will benefit HealthFirst’s opioid addiction recovery program at its facility at 387 Quarry Street in Fall River, said CEO Julie Almond. The program utilizes medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and integrates treatment for addiction with psychiatric, primary care, and behavioral health services.

Founded in 1971, HealthFirst is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides medical care, dental care, and behavioral health services to children and adults in greater Fall River, regardless of their ability to pay.
