PATNA:
Pataliputra University (
PPU) has invited online applications for 17 PhD courses. The deadline for submission of online registration forms is September 6.
Important subjects for the PhD registration include Hindi, English,
economics, history, commerce, philosophy, geography, home science, Urdu, Sanskrit, physics, chemistry and
mathematics.
PPU pro-vice-chancellor G K Choudhary said the university would entertain online PhD applications of those candidates who have already passed PhD test and completed pre-PhD mandatory course at
Magadh University (MU). Such candidates will have to collect ‘no objection certificates’ from the MU.
Choudhary said the state government has approved PG teaching in 18 subjects this year, including computer science. But hardly any student was admitted in the PG computer science this year. “The PPU has thus invited online applications for 17 subjects only as per the UGC guidelines,” he said.
According to the pro-VC, though the state government has approved PG teaching in 18 subjects, it has not sanctioned the required posts for running these courses. “The PPU had submitted a proposal to the state government long back to sanction 126 posts in the 18 PG departments, but to no avail,” he added.
