South Africans love buying locally-built cars, Suzuki SA enhances Swift - Top motoring stories of the day

Several motor manufacturers build cars in South Africa, most notably Toyota, Volkswagen, Ford and Nissan.

Data generated by vehicle specialists Lightstone Auto shows that 108 827 passenger and light commercial vehicles were produced from January and to June 2019. 

By looking more closely at the data we list which are the five top-selling locally-produced vehicles so far in 2019.

A pre-production Porsche Taycan has covered a distance of 3425km in 24 hours ahead of the electric car's world premiere on September 4.

And, the Aston Martin Valkyrie had been showcased dynamically ahead of the 2019 British GP. High performance test driver Chris Goodwin completed a lap of Silverstone.
