CHANDIGARH: Police have arrested a person from
Dadu Majra on the charge of attempt to
murder. The accused, along with his accomplices, allegedly assaulted two persons with sharp-edged weapons at Dadu Majra. One of the injured persons is battling for life in the advanced trauma centre of the
PGI. The cops said raids were on to nab his accomplices in the case. Meanwhile, the accused was produced in a local court, which sent him to judicial custody.
Police said that complainant Linkan, a resident of Sector 25, alleged that he was going to Dadu Majra with his two friends Arun and Prince late on August 16. As they reached near the park in Dadu Majra, Sumit, along with others, who were hiding there, attacked them with sharp-edged weapons. The accused stabbed Linkan in his abdomen and on some other body parts of the other two persons accompanying him.
The assailants fled after committing the crime. The police on getting information about the incident reached the spot in a PCR. The cops rushed them to the GMSH-16. Later, Linkan was referred to the PGI in a critical condition.
Cops from Maloya police station also reached the hospital and recorded their statements and registered a case against the accused and arrested the main accused, Sumit, from Dadu Majra. The police said that due to some old rivalry the accused had attacked Linkan. The condition of two of the injured was stated to be stable now.
