Former Assam Chief Minister targets former Rajya Sabha member Bhubaneswar Kalita and former State Minister Gautam Roy.

Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said scam-tainted Congress leaders were joining the Bharatiya Janata Party in the State to escape investigation and possible punishment.

The former Chief Minister on Saturday attacked former Rajya Sabha member Bhubaneswar Kalita and former State Minister Gautam Roy, insisting that they changed party colours to save their backs.

“I don’t know whether Bhubaneswar Kalita was involved or not, but there were investigations against him in connection with the Commonwealth Games scam,” Mr. Gogoi told presspersons.

“Gautam Roy was also accused of involvement and grilled in a Social Welfare scam when he was Minister. Have these leaders gone to BJP to get a clean chit?” he said, also referring to his alleged involvement in the Assam Public Service Commission cash-for-jobs scam.
