The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) on Monday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare the floods in Karnataka as “national calamity” and accordingly grant relief to the State.
While demanding compensation to those who lost their houses, crops and fertile land in a scientific manner, the Sangha sought comprehensive relief to the next of kin of those who died in the rains and floods.
The farmers under the banner of KRRS, who staged a demonstration here on Monday, demanded compensation of ₹ 10 lakh to the families of farmers who lost their lives in the calamity besides providing job to one of the members of the deceased farmers’ family.
The sangha sought ₹10 lakh for the reconstruction of houses that had collapsed in the rains, floods and landslips.
KRRS leaders Hosur Kumar, Hosakote Basavaraju and others were present.
