Help State realise development dreams, he tells overseas Telugus

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed his commitment to ensuring social justice in the State.

‘Navaratnalu’ (his party’s election promises) would fulfil the needs of all sections, he asserted and listed a host of welfare measures taken by his government in a short span.

Addressing the Telugu community at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Centre in Dallas, Mr. Jagan said he wished that no child or youth should stay away from studies for want of opportunities or money and no person should suffer from illness due to lack of facilities or lack of financial support.

Similarly, he did not want any person who is able and willing to work to sit in despair and move out of the State due to the lack of opportunities and dreamt that the marginalised sections should be empowered economically, socially and politically.

Besides, he would be upset if farmers landed in a debt trap due to multiple factors.

The poor should have own houses, the literacy rate should be a lot higher, the State should have irrigation and drinking water facilities in every village and there should be no bias on the basis of caste, creed, religion, political affiliations, the CM said.

The State government was striving to achieve those goals by clearing the hurdles one after another.

‘Bold initiatives’

Mr. Jagan said the State government got 19 Bills passed in the Assembly, some of which the past governments did not dare to enact for various reasons.

The YSR Congress Party government was glued to its task of delivering corruption-free governance though it might affect the apple cart of vested interests.

He thanked the gathering for their support and for the affection they had shown to his father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy through the thick and thin of politics.

The CM appealed to NRIs to invest in the State thereby facilitate a major leap towards development.

He suggested to the prospective investors to foster partnerships in industry, education, medicare, infrastructure development and other areas and said the government portal would have a window for NRIs who wish to invest and take things forward.
