17-year-old girl raped in Chittor, juvenile detained

UDAIPUR: A 17-year old girl, who was raped allegedly by a 17-year-old at Kumbha Nagar under Sadar police station limits of Chittorgarh on Saturday night, had to be operated upon by doctors in a government hospital after her condition deteriorated due to excessive bleeding.
Later, based on a complaint by the girl’s family, police registered a case under the POCSO Act and detained the youth.
Former legislator Surendra Singh Jadawat, district Congress committee president and party supporters went to the hospital and assured speedy action to ensure justice.
According to police, the girl lived in a rented room in Kumbanagar area for studies and had been in touch with the accused, a college student, who often came to her house.
Police said on Saturday night, the accused visited and sexually assaulted her. When her condition deteriorated, the house owner informed her parents who arrived and rushed her to hospital.
Though Sadar SHO Navneet Vyas also reached the hospital, they could not record a statement of the girl because she was unconscious.
Another youth Kailash Jat, who is the accused's friend, too have been named in the complaint. “We are investigating. We will record the girl’s statement once she is in a condition to speak. Medical test report will confirm if she was raped by more than one person,” the SHO said.
