The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Monday directed the Ministry of Law and Justice to submit all relevant documents on the conduct of interviews for selection of notaries throughout the country, including a report on the selection in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Justice R. Suresh Kumar directed the Ministry to submit a report on the mode of interview, if guidelines were prescribed by the Ministry to the interview board and if there were any specific instructions given to the board. The case was adjourned by a week.
The court was hearing the petition filed by a differently abled advocate R. Ravi Kumar of Madurai, who said that among the 748 candidates selected for the post, no candidate was under the differently abled category.
During the course of hearing, Assistant Solicitor General V. Kathirvelu submitted that candidates were selected through interviews. Those who scored 60 marks and above out of 100 were selected and those who scored less than 60 were not recommended to the post.
