Hyderabad: A 24-year-old life convict, who was undergoing treatment at Government Hospital For Mental Care in
Erragadda, committed suicide on Saturday. The
SR Nagar police said that the hospital staff found Feroz Khan hanging in the bathroom at 6am on Sunday. Feroz was convicted by a court in Nizamabad for killing his mother.
Officials said that Feroz was brought to Cherlapally jail on July 24 and was shifted to the hospital on August 5, as he was suffering with depression and was showing suicidal tendencies. Feroz was found hanging from the exhaust fan with a towel.
The police registered a case under Section 176 (when any person dies while in the custody of police) of the CrPC. The reason for suicide is unknown, but police suspect that Feroz got into depression after being convicted for murder. TNN
