CM convenes first such meet after Assembly elections

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will chair a conference of the district collectors on Tuesday.

The conference, first after the recent elections to the Assembly, assumes significance in the light of the government’s resolve to enact a new Revenue Act aimed at revamping the existing system and introducing best practices.

The Chief Minister has decided to elicit the views of the collectors, who play a key role in the land administration at the ground level, on the provisions that should be incorporated in the new Act making it more transparent and people friendly.

The collectors had accordingly been directed to come prepared with their inputs and suggestions for the meeting that would also be attended by the ministers. According to an official release, the meeting would discuss about the 60-day action plan announced by the Government recently as also the steps that should be taken for effective implementation of the new Panchayat Raj Act and the new Municipal Act.

Since the issues needed to be discussed threadbare, it could be extended by a day more, the release added.
