Minister for Electricity P.Thangamani said that 75% of power connections has been restored in the Nilgiris and works are under way to restore all the affected power connections in the district..
The Minister was here to take part in the groundbreaking ceremony for the taluk office at Komarapalayam here.
Speaking to reporters, the Minister said that the works would be completed soon.
Regarding power generation in the State, Mr. Thangamani said, “since water is being released into River Cauvery, nearly 250 MW of power is being generated at the Mettur Dam and 210 MW of power is generated along the river course. Maintainance works are being carried out at thermal power plant here. The maintenance works would completed in one or two months.”
Regarding the recent murder of a Tasmac employee in Krishnagiri, the Minister said, “the government is taking all measures to ensure the safety of Tasmac employees. Soon, CCTV cameras would be installed at all the Tasmac shops.” He added that the government would be providing a compensation of ₹10 lakh and government job to one of the family members of the deceased.
