An 80-year-old man was killed, allegedly, by his son in RTC Colony, Malakjgiri. The victim, Maruthi’s body was chopped into pieces and stuffed into buckets. Police suspect that the octogenarian might have been killed on Friday. The gory incident came to light after locals complained of foul smell emanating from the house of the accused person.

Maruthi stayed with his wife, daughter, and son (Kishan) in the RTC Colony. They had relocated from Maharashtra to Malkajgiri around 15 years ago. While Maruthi retired as goods train driver, his son was unemployed.

Malkajgiri Assistant Commissioner of Police G Sundeep said Maruthi and Kishan had personal disputes and argued frequently.

“He (Kishan) is absconding. We do not rule out the role of family members,” said Mr Sundeep. A case under Section 302 (punishment for murder) was registered.
