A fallen climber was taken to hospital with head and chest injuries after an incident on Anglesey this afternoon.

It was one of a number of incidents coastguard and RNLI teams had to deal with as fine weather brought people to the coasts and strong winds caused trouble for those out on the water.

The man in his late 50s had fallen from Holyhead mountain, and had to be rescued by Holyhead and Cemaes Bay Coastguard Rescue teams, assisted by Rescue 936 Coastguard helicopter.

They made a rope rescue of the casualty after being called at 4pm, and the man was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd with head and chest injuries.

 

It wasn't the only incident that had to be dealt with by volunteers of on a busy day for emergency services.

At 10.37am, Criccieth and Harlech Coastguard Rescue teams were called by Porthmeirion Hotel after a capsized dinghy that had been demasted was spotted off shore. Two people were recovered safely to shore.

 

A man fell and hit his head near Abersoch at around 10.50am and was evacuated to a waiting ambulance.

At Abersoch at about 3.10pm, a helicopter landing was made to convey an unconscious swimmer to Ysbyty Gwynedd.

At 3.30pm, Flint Coastguard Rescue and RNLI teams were called to assist in the recovery of a woman in the water near Hawarden Railway Bridge, Shotton .

By the time the teams arrived on the scene, she had made her way out of the water and was taken into the care of North Wales Police .

 

At 4.11pm, two kayakers were spotted in difficulty off Benllech , but Moelfre Coastguard Rescue Team and Moelfre inshore lifeboat managed to get them both safely to shore.

A paddle boarder was lucky to escape injury after going out with no safety equipment off the coast of Gwynedd .

Porthdinllaen Coastguard and RNLI teams went to assist after he had been blown out to sea, and the boarder was recovered to shore without needing medical assistance.
