PANCHKULA:
Panchkula police have arrested five
drug peddlers in two separate incidents, and recovered 16.4kg
ganja and 2.05g
heroin from their possession.
A police team from Sector 5, following a tip-off, nabbed two drug paddlers from civil hospital in Sector 6, Panchkula, and recovered 2.05g heroin from their possession. They have been identified as Karamvir Singh (23), a resident of Mansa in Punjab and Gurmajor Singh (23), a resident of Shatabgarh village in Zirakpur. Police said though the two claimed to be addicts, they believed the heroin in their possession was not for their consumption, but for supplying to a third party somewhere around the hospital. They have been taken in police remand.
In the second incident, a team of Pinjore police at a checkpost on Pinjore-Nalagarh Road saw a motorcyclerehri approaching from Charnia village. When police signalled them to stop, the accused attempted to turn back, but were nabbed. On searching, police found two sacks of ganja from their possession weighing 16.4 kilo grams.
They have been identified as Krishan, Ramphal and Pirdas— all residents of Khada Pathhar village in Pinjore. Police said they were produced in court which remanded Ramphal to police custody. The other two were sent to judicial custody.
