Travel agent booked for duping Mohali man of Rs 3.5 lakh

CHANDIGARH: Police have booked a travel agent for duping a person of Rs 3.5 lakh on pretext of sending him abroad. Complainant Amit Singh, a resident of Sector 67, Mohali reported that he to book air tickets from London to New Delhi for his sister who is settled there.
For this, he contacted the accused Arpit Sood, owner of Brilliance Holidays and paid Rs 3.5 lakh to him. Amit alleged that after one month the accused told him that the tickets have been rescheduled by British Airlines and confirmation would come on June 23, 2018.

Amit accordingly informed his sister who told him to check the status of rescheduled flight timings. Amit then called up the office of British Airlines from where he came to know that no flight is cancelled or rescheduled by them and no tickets were booked on his sister's name. Amit then tried to reach Arpit who remained incommunicado. Amit also visited Arpit's house in Mohali from where he came to know that he had left the house long time back.
After verifying the facts, Sector 26 police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and started probe.
