Banned drugs seized from medical store

Ludhiana: The Zonal Licensing Authority (Drugs), Ludhiana, conducted a raid on three wholesale medical stores at Pindi Street on Friday evening, but recovered banned drugs from one. During the raid on Popular Pharma Agency, the team seized 15 types of habit-forming drugs containing Tramadol caps and tablets (3,362), Lomotil (700 tablets), Carisoma tablets (250), Alprazolam tabs (1,500). The worth of these medicines is Rs41,725.
Zonal licensing officer (Drugs) Kulwinder Singh said Tramadol, Alprazolam, and Lomotil were banned medicines. Besides, for other medicines, the store owner could not present the bills. The official added that he had written to the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) about the raid. Further, FDA will issue a show-cause notice to the firm. The licence of firm can be cancelled or suspended.
