Ludhiana: A shrine near City Centre was found vandalized on Friday morning when devotees reached there to pay obeisance.
The police have booked unidentified miscreants on the complaint of the former area president.
The shrine, which is situated under a tree in Block G of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar near City Centre, has merely a 2-feet boundary and residents throng here every day to pray.
Satinder Singh Kakkar stated in his police complaint that on Friday morning, some devotees saw the slab, where the Shivlinga and other idols are kept, broken. Moreover, some idols were also vandalized, he added.
The complainant alleged that some residents living in the area were responsible for the act.
SBS Nagar police post in-charge ASI Sunil Kumar said based on the complaint, a case has been registered under Section of 295 (injuring or defiling the place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) of the Indian Penal Code against the unidentified accused.
The ASI added that some suspects have been captured by the CCTVs in the area and the police are trying to trace them.
