Roughead doing some ruck work?

Max Gawn just told Fox Footy he saw Roughead putting on his "shin pads" which he thinks means Roughead will do some rucking although maybe just likes protecting his shins....

Interesting to see what happens when the Magpies need to rest Grundy....

Simon Goodwin pre-game

Dees coach Simon Goodwin says he wants winning football to finish the season and he also expects Oscar McDonald to play forward today alongside Harrison Petty and the rest of their goal threats.

I wonder if McDonald's move forward could force the Magpies to keep Jordan Roughead as a key defender instead of using him to help out in the ruck....time will tell.

Wet day at the MCG

According to the Bureau of Meteorology there is a 90 per cent chance of rain in Melbourne during the rest of today so that should mean 100 per cent chance of the little men and in and under types starring at the MCG today.

Collingwood probably has the edge in that area although the Dees are pretty good in that area and according to AFL.com.au both sides average 149 contested possessions per game.

Whoever holds sway in that area will be well on the way to winning. Game time is fast approaching!

Buckley says history repeating as injured Pies regroup for finals

About last night

Grundy v Gawn

Week after week, Brodie Grundy and Max Gawn - with only a smidgen of help from supporting actors - back up and generally beat the No. 1 big men of the other 16 clubs. If there was a ruck championship belt, it would be on the line come 1.45pm on Saturday.

Welcome to Saturday footy

It's a jam-packed day of AFL action, starting with what could be a tricky game for Collingwood and their coach Nathan Buckley. Certainly if Melbourne spring an upset, the Magpie natives will be restless.
