Yechury, Raja meet Azad's fate, detained at Srinagar airport

In a repeat of what happened to Ghulam Nabi Azad on Thursday,  CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yecury and CPI's D Raja were detained at Srinagar airport on Friday. They were not allowed to enter the city. 

Yesterday, the Left leaders had written to Governor Satya Pal Malik regarding their visit to meet party colleague and said that administration shouldn't create any 'hurdles' for their visit. However, their request fell deaf ears as the authorities promptly detained them. 

Almost 300 political leaders are currently detained in Jammu and Kashmir from Monday when the decision to abrogate Article 370 to end the special status of the state was taken. Till now, the situation has slightly improved in the state even though the state remains virtually under a lockdown with very little communication with other parts of the country. 

PM Modi in an address to the nation on Thursday highlighted the reason behind the government's actions and also tried to explain how it will usher in a wave of development for the people of the region.
