A young IT professional from Tiruvanmiyur, who claims to be first person from Chennai to step on Mount Everest, has quit his job at an IT firm to pursue his passion for trekking and mountaineering. He is now a full-time guide for other trekkers at Get Beyond Limit in Bengaluru.

“My best experience was when I climbed Mount Everest in 2017. I still vividly remember what the peak looked like. To climb a mountain so big, we should be mentally and physically fit. The experience is also different when we have to carry our belongings and do everything by ourself, without any help from the Sherpa guides,” said Karthik.
The former engineer said that it was hard to convince his parents, as they weren’t happy about his decision to give up a regular job. Even his friends and colleagues mocked him for taking such a decision, but Karthik hopes that he would be able to change their minds over time.
Speaking about on his plans, Karthik said that he wants to start a trekking firm near the mountains he loves.
Karthik Prakash (26), started climbing mountains from 2014 to create awareness for conserving and rescuing of animals in need. He was also involved in trekking and scuba diving. Karthik said he was inspired by watching adventure documentaries in college.
