The war of words between Kangana Ranaut and Taapsee Pannu has caught everyone's attention and it all began when the latter applauded the trailer for Judgementall Hai Kya. After Kangana's sister, Rangoli called Taapsee a 'sasti copy', the Manikarnika actor went on to say, "She (Taapsee) says derogatory things like I need a double filter or scream nepotism when out of work. When you poke fun at someone, then be ready to take things in the fun too. Why become thick-skinned then?"

Then Taapsee reacted to Kangana's statement and told Mumbai Mirror, "I didn’t know there was a copyright on curly hair, which I was born with, and honest opinions. I’m not going to apologise for it. As far as being “sasti” is concerned, Kangana claims to be the highest-paid actress, so I guess I am the “sasti” version."

She had also said, "We are both opinionated and speak our mind which is a good thing except that sometimes it lands us in trouble. I had said it in a positive manner and not meant for it to be derogatory. In fact, I have often said Kangana’s an actor I look up to, my conscience is clear. It was weird to target me, that’s why it backfired."

Now, during an interaction with IANS, I did not reply to that individual because they do not matter in my scheme of things. Why should I pay attention to people who do not matter to me? They are taking time out to say things to me, meaning I matter to them. Everyone knows how to bully, and even I know how to answer back. But there is a certain use of language and vocabulary that I have not learnt and I never will. So, I answered in my way."
