Women to travel for free in UP roadways buses on Rakshabandhan

LUCKNOW: In an effort similar to last two years, Uttar Pradesh government this Rakshabandhan would also allow free ride to women passengers in all categories of UPSRTC buses.
Women passengers would be allowed to travel free from the midnight of August 14 till the midnight of August 15 in general, AC and high-end buses of UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) to any of the destinations.
Conductors would issue an ETM (Electronic Ticketing Machine) ticket of zero denomination to women passengers during the offer period. In case ETM fails to print such a ticket, zero value ticket would be issued from the blank book by the conductor.
Those women who had booked tickets in advance or online will get the amount refunded if they travel during the festival. Refund could be claimed from any of the ticket counters within 72 hours from the completion of the journey.
UPSRTC has instructed the staff to check the ETMs with respect to date and time settings on the day so that it does not lead to any glitch. Any ticket printed after the 24-hour limit would not show zero value.
