After a long wait, the winners of the 66th National Film Awards have been announced. While normally, the recipients of the National Film Awards are announced in April and the presentation takes place on May 3 every year, it was delayed this time owing to the Lok Sabha polls.
The awards were announced today with Vicky Kaushal’s Uri bagging four awards. From the Punjabi Cinema film name ‘ Harjeeta’ wins best film award. The Ammy Virk starrer ‘Harjeeta’ has bagged the title of Best Punjabi Film.
Written by Jagdeep Sidhu and directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, ‘Harjeeta’ was released last year on May 18th. The movie chronicled the story of a young India hockey player, Harjeet Singh Tuli, who was India’s captain in the Men’s Hockey Junior World Cup 2016. It was under Singh’s captaincy that India won the trophy after a wait of 2 decades.
