BSNL increases validity of Rs 1,699 Prepaid Plan for a limited period

State-run telecom operator, BSNL has made yet another adjustment to one of its prepaid plans by revising the long-run Rs 1,699 plan. In the past few months, BSNL has rolled out various offers and schemes to drive customers to its prepaid plans. Now, the Rs 1,699 plan, has received a new promotional offer under which subscribers will get additional validity.

The Rs 1,699 prepaid plan has a validity of 365 days, but under the promotional offer, consumers will get 455 days of validity, which equals to an additional 90 days of validity. As per a TelecomTalk report, this is a promotional offer from BSNL, which would be valid between August 14, 2019 and September 13, 2019. 

On the offerings front, the Rs 1,699 prepaid plan offers 2GB data per day, unlimited local calls, unlimited roaming and STD calling, and 100 SMS messages per day. “it qualifies for the Bumper Offer for BSNL which offers 2.2GB of additional data per day. This means that subscribers of this plan get a total data benefit of 4.2GB of data per day,” TelecomTalk noted. 

Additionally, BSNL has also made a new change to its SMS replacement plan. Previously, BSNL had set the cost for SIM replacement at Rs 10, but had then hiked the price to Rs 100. Now, BSNL has reduced the SIM replacement cost by 50 percent. It will cost BSNL subscribers Rs 50 to replace a SIM.

Recently, BSNL also introduced a 'Star 498' programme, which offers benefits such as unlimited voice calls (in all circles except Delhi and Mumbai), 1,000 SMS messages, and 30GB data. The data is valid for 30 days. However, the plan’s validity is for 365 days. Customers connecting with the Star 498 membership programme will also get discounts on future recharges, The programme will compete with Bharti Airtel’s “Airtel Thanks” loyalty programme.
