His comments were supposed to address a recent study that suggests men are afraid to recycle because people might think they are feminine or gay.
After co-host Rachel Corbett cheekily introduced Steve as 'old rubbish', the 64-year-old went on to describe his new fondness of hessian shopping bags.

'However... I'm now living in an area that is very diverse and walking up and down the street, I've managed to discover my inner sexuality and I'm starting to love recycling.'
Steve went on to say he has started using hessian bags from his local shop Harris Farm, and then produced a bag emblazoned with the words: 'I said no to plastic'.
'I've gone hessian, not plastic - So, I'm turning!' Steve quipped.
