Twenty images of siblings, pets, nature and hobbies by Sydney’s youngest amateur photographers have been selected as finalists in the Little Sydney Lives photography competition. A record-breaking 356 images were submitted by children aged 3 to 11 for the City of Sydney’s annual Art & About competition. The finalist images for the junior version of the prestigious Australian Life photography competition will be displayed in an exhibition at Sandringham Gardens, north Hyde Park, from 19 September to 13 October. Winners will be selected in each of two categories – 3 to 7 and 8 to 11 years – and announced on 19 September.

Our family were out at the beautiful sunflower fields having a photo shoot for our youngest daughters 1st Birthday. Akash Gambhir, 3, Castle Hill. Titled "I'm going to eat my brother" and captured at Home. A playful day - Akash had his face painted as a monster at Castle Hill RSL in the morning. I was trying to feed the baby as Akash tried to feed on the baby. Monsters do all kinds of things when they want the mother's attention. Levi Shirka, 8, Mona Vale. Titled "Beachside Blitz" and taken at Long Reef beach. I love exploring our local beaches with my family. We spend our time climbing on rocks, searching in rock pools, running down sand dunes, and making sand sculptures together. Ty Odell, 11, Hobartville. Titled "The Mighty Moon" and captured at Rouse Hill, looking up from the fountain. Ty loves nature. This was a fantastic shot. All around are bright lights, people shopping but the serenity and the majesty of the Moon caught his eye. It was lovely night last Thursday.
