50g heroin seized
Division 2 police on Wednesday arrested a drug peddler, Surinder Kumar of Prem Nagar, after recovering 50g heroin from his possession. Cops said a police party was behind the railway line near Gurdwara Dukhnivaran Sahib on Wednesday, when they saw a person coming from Down Bridge. On seeing the police party, the person tried to turn back, but was caught on suspicion. During checking, police recovered 50g heroin from his possession, booked him under the NDPS Act, and arrested him.
Woman’s scooter stolen
Division 8 police have booked an unidentified thief for stealing a woman’s scooter (Activa) near Extension Library, close to Fountain Chowk. In her police complaint, Kiranjyot Kaur of Phase 3 Urban Estate in Dugri said she had parked her Activa outside a popular mall near Extension Library on August 3 at around 1.15pm, but when she returned at around 3.30pm, it was not there. Police have registered a case under relevant sections against the unidentified accused, and started investigation in the matter.
