NEW DELHI: Vice President M
Venkaiah Naidu said on Friday that political parties should frame a code of conduct for their legislators on their behaviour in Parliament and assemblies and that they should bar those who rush to the well of the House, shout slogans, carry banners or tear up papers and documents.
Naidu also said parties must create this code voluntarily rather than it being imposed on them.
“Let there be any amount of debate and opposition should get its full say. Discuss, debate but decide one way or the other. There should be no obstructions and stalling of proceedings,” he said.
He also said while the opposition should have its say, it is the government, which has the numbers, will have its way.
Naidu’s two years in office as Vice President and
Rajya Sabha Chairman will also be chronicled in a book titled ‘Listening, Learning and Leading’, which will be released by Union home minister
Amit Shah in Chennai on Sunday. The function is being hosted by information and broadcasting minister
Prakash Javadekar.
