We had recently reported that Venkat Prabhu’s project with Simbu was getting delayed from the actor’s side and is likely to be called off soon. The latest is that the producer of the film Suresh Kamatchi, on Thursday made an official statement that the film has been shelved ‘with Simbu in the lead’.
Chennai:
“Simbu insisted on me bankrolling Maanadu with him in the lead, which was encouraging.
However, I felt that several delays in the project made situations bitter. I am a person who believes that a person should be committed towards the project taken up. So, we decided to drop the film,” he said.
Suresh added that this doesn’t mean that the project has been permanently shelved. “Maanadu will have a new premise in future, with Venkat Prabhu as the director,” he added. This news has upset Simbu’s fans and they have expressed their disappointment on social media. Venkat Prabhu too took to Twitter and said, “It’s very unfortunate that I couldn’t work with my brother #str in #maanaadu. Everything is time bounded. Considering the amount of emotional and financial pressure that the producer is going through, I have to respect the decision taken by the producer. Thanks for all the love!” (sic).
