Meanwhile, Pakistan Minister for Railways, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad announces that Thar Express services (Jodhpur-Karachi) will be stopped.
Raveesh Kumar: It is time for Pakistan to accept the reality and stop interfering in India's internal matters.
Raveesh Kumar: The situation is J&K is calm. There is already a sense of normalcy. Newspapers are being published without any disruption. No violence has been reported. Food supply is adequate.
Raveesh Kumar: The steps to suspend Samjhauta Express and bilateral trade taken by Pakistan is to create an unecessary sense of alarm.
Raveesh Kumar: In addition, Article 370 of the Indian Constitution is a sovereign matter, it is an internal matter. The removal of a 'temporary' provision will not only establish democratic measures on the ground, it will boost terrorism, bring in employment in the Valley. The step has been taken for the betterment of the people of J&K.
It is not clear as to why Pakistan is joining two different matters. How we amend our Constitution is under our sovereign jurisdiction.
Raveesh Kumar: Frankly, I believe Pakistan's concerns over Article 370 is because they won't be able to mislead the people in the Valley, and they won't be able to insight cross-border terrorism and terror funding.
Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar briefs the media:
The action taken by Pakistan is unilateral – that is they did not consult India – whether it was Samjhauta Express or suspending trade.
We have asked them to review these decisions.
What they are doing is projecting an alarming situation – that something big is going to happen.
