Golden Lions star donates R50 000 to fight against women & children abuse

Cape Town - In the spirit of Women's Month, Lions loose-forward Hacjivah Dayimani donated R50 000 towards fighting abuse against women and children.

He was announced as the winner of the Fans' Choice Category at the 2018 BrightRock Players' Choice Awards and received R50 000 from MyPlayers -the rugby players' organisation - to donate to a charitable organisation of his choice.

“MyPlayers wants to amplify and create awareness about the needs of charities within South Africa and through this award we wanted to encourage our players to actively get involved by giving back to their local communities,” said Isma-eel Dollie, National Player Relationship Manager of MyPlayers.

Dayimani selected Home of Hope (HoH) as his charity of chose, which is an organisation that provides a home for young women who were affected by child trafficking and sexual exploitation, violence and criminality. They aim to provide these victims with a second opportunity to life.

"I grew up in a big family. We were always 16 people or even more living together under one roof. Most of them were women and we always knew about one another's stories. When I heard about Home and Hope and their story, it was very touching for me. I'm so grateful to have received this opportunity to donate to them as their story feels close to home and resonated with me. I admire their fighting spirit to give young women a second chance in life," said Dayimani.

The founder and director of HoH, Khanyisile Motsa, was delighted about the donation as it means so much for them at HoH.

"We don't have steady support; we only depend on the loving hearts and giving hands of others. This money means education to the children, it means food and it means transport. We are excited about this donation and I want to express my gratitude to MyPlayers and Hacjivah," said Motsa.

Dayimani is currently playing for the Golden Lions in the Currie Cup who will take on the Blue Bulls this coming Saturday.
