Two prisoners attempted to flee amid heavy floods while they had been lodged in a jail near Sangli on Thursday. As the water rose up to 6 feet in the prison, the inmates rushed to save their lives. Reportedly, two of them dove in the waters to escape. However, their attempt proved unsuccessful as both of them were later apprehended by the jail authorities.

The jail consists of 360 prisoners. Despite numerous demands by the jail authorities for speedboats to safely rescue the prison inmates, the administration has failed to provide them with rescue boats.
