Vadodara: Rail traffic movement on Delhi route got severely disrupted on Friday evening as up and down movement were suspended due to waterlogging at Godhra railway station. With the water level reaching above 50mm level at Godhra railway station, the Vadodara railway division suspended all the train movement on the route from 6.50 pm onwards. At 8.35 pm efforts were being made to start train movement with piloting.
As an immediate effect of the suspension, three trains were halted at their nearest railway station. These include Vadodara-Dahod memu train which was halted at Samlaya railway station, Mumbai Central-Amritsar Paschim Express halted at Derol railway station and Ahmedabad-Nizamuddin Sampark Kranti Express which was halted at Vadodara railway station.
Apart from these, six other trains which were earlier scheduled to depart on Saturday have been cancelled as water reached the track level at railway stations like Dakor on Anand-Godhra section of Vadodara railway division.
While four memu trains, which run between Anand and Godhra railway station, have been cancelled for Saturday, two other trains between Anand and temple town Dakor have also been cancelled. There were reports of water reaching the tracks near Umreth, Timba Road and other such railway stations falling in the jurisdiction of Vadodara railway division.
“We have set up help desks at all the railway stations for the convenience of passengers. The trains have been halted at the nearest stations for the safety of the passengers,” said Khemraj Meena, public relations officer of Vadodara railway division.
