Orientation day celebrated in MMU, Sadopur

AMBALA: The Maharishi Markandeshwar University (MMU), Sadopur village in Ambala celebrated its orientation day for the first year students of bachelors and master courses of 2019 batch on Tuesday. The students and their parents participated in the event and the MMU Vice Chancellor Dr Harish Sharma graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The orientation day, 2019 has been celebrated for the first year students of Bachelors of Science (Agriculture), Bachelors of Business Administration, Bachelors of Commerce, Masters of Science (MSc) (Agriculture), MSc Chemistry and Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications.

The Programme began with the lighting of lamp and Saraswati Vandana. Prof Ripudaman Singh gave a brief introduction of the University and introduction of the Head of the Departments. In his presentation he highlighted the academic and state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities available at the University including the accolades achieved by the University staff and students. Prof Aradhana Jindal, Dean Students Welfare addressed the students and motivated them to achieve all around excellence. She focused on the importance of utilization of latent intellectual power thateveryone has. She said that University is a platform to explore new ideas.


MMU VC Dr Harish Sharma in his presidential address welcomed the new entrants and exhorted them to make the best use of not only the facilities available at the campus but also online study material like SWAYAM on the internet.


Dr Sharma impressed on them to be voracious readers to develop their critical and original thinking. He also gave tips to the students about getting good marks in internal assessment and explained the evaluation criteria for internal assessment. He cautioned the students about the short shelf life of technical knowledge and about the fast changes occuring in different fields and advised them to keep on updating their knowledge. He also called upon the parents of the students to keep in touch with the mentors of their wards to know about their performance. The chief guest wished the students a bright future.


Prof Raman Gupta, Registrar of the University gave vote of thanks.The Programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
