Civic move for Bakrid

GHMC, for the first time, will distribute biodegradable bags, along with black plastic ones, for collection of animal waste generated during Bakrid.

Answering to a question by Corporator M.A. Gaffar about arrangements for Bakrid during the General Body meeting on Thursday, zonal commissioner of Khairatabad Musharraf Ali Faruqui said that for the first time, GHMC was hiring an outside agency to collect meat waste for processing.

GHMC Commissioner M. Dana Kishore said that ₹2.43 crore has been allocated for lighting and removal of biodegradable waste from various localities. A total of 3.69 lakh covers are being distributed.

The city’s 22 police stations alone will be given 22 excavator machines, 32 mini tippers and 1.85 lakh black covers.
