Typhoon Lekima made landfall near Shitangzhen, in the province of Zhejiang around 1am local time on Saturday.
Even though this powerful storm will weaken as it moves inland, there will still be damaging gusts of wind around Shanghai on Saturday evening and some parts of eastern China could see up to 400mm of rain.
