Nagpur: Four days after a 28-year-old woman committed suicide, MIDC police on Wednesday registered a case of dowry against her husband and his family members for allegedly harassing the deceased.
The accused have been identified as Sudhir Vishwakarma, his father Jagdish and brother Devendra.
Pooja Vishwakarma, a resident of Bhim Nagar, had committed suicide by hanging herself at her home on August 3. Cops had then recovered a suicide note from the spot and MIDC police had registered a case of accidental death. Pooja had claimed in the suicide note that the trio used to harass her.
During investigation and after verifying the suicide note, cops learnt that Pooja was harassed by the trio who regularly used to ask her to bring money from her parents. Cops said that Sudhir is an alcoholic, does not work for a living, and regularly used to thrash Pooja, asking her to bring money.
It is also learnt that Sudhir had told Pooja and her family members that he works at a company at the time of their marriage, but Pooja later learnt that her husband does not have a job.
