VISAKHAPATNAM: In protest against the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill, the Indian Medical Association (IMA), including its Visakhapatnam chapter, has given a nationwide bandh call to shut down all medical and health establishment for 24 hours on Thursday. The doctors’ protest against the Bill entered its eighth day on Wednesday.The bandh call has been given by IMA and is being supported by the Government Doctors’ Association (GDA), AP Junior Doctors’ Association (APJUDA) and AP Private Hospital and Nursing Homes Association (APNA).
In a press statement, president of IMA Dr A Subhrahmanyeswara Rao, said, “In response to the nationwide bandh call by IMA, New Delhi, it was decided to close down all medical and health establishments of Vizag on Thursday from 6 am to Friday 6 am. All hospitals, nursing homes, lab and diagnostic services have been requested to close their services for 24 hours.”
