Ludhiana: From now on, anyone entering
beer bars in Ludhiana commissionerate will have to give a copy of their identity card for record maintenance. This order has been issued by the police commissioner Sukhchain Singh Gill on Wednesday under Section 144 of CrPC.
Gill stated: “The order has been issued keeping in view that bars sell liquor until late in the night, and people often create a ruckus in an inebriated condition. It also affects the law and order situation in the city. Therefore, all beer bars have been directed to keep the ID proof of people coming to their place. The staff would also have to maintain a register of the same.
Further, the official has also ordered bar owners to get CCTVs installed in their premises, and they are also barred from selling hookah items. According to the official, action would be ensured in case of violation.
