HYDERABAD: Over 100
residents of Navya Nagar colony, Beeramguda, Ameenpur protested against the civic body over the accumulating garbage near their residence.
According to the residents, the local bodies have been collecting garbage and then dumping it right in the middle of the housing complexes. They said despite repeated complaints the situation has only worsened. Speaking to TOI, Gopala Krishna Naralasetty, a resident, said: “There are 5,000 houses in these complexes. We have been facing this problem from the very beginning. Initially, when we contacted the local representatives we were told that the area where the garbage is being dumped was a temporary dumpyard. It seems it has become a permanent
garbage dump now.”
With the onset of the
monsoon residents are now complaining that they are falling sick due to the unhygienic conditions.
When TOI contacted the municipal commissioner of Ameenpur, Veman Reddy, he said, “A 10-acre land has been sanctioned by the revenue department and we are planning to shift the dumpyard that area. We are hoping to initiate the work within a week.”
