Chandigarh airport parking fee reduced by over 50% for first 30 minutes

MOHALI: Chandigarh International Airport Limited (CHIAL) has slashed parking fee for cars and two-wheelers by 65% and 50%, respectively, for the first 30 minutes.
The introductory slab has been implemented from August 6 and free entry-exit for first six minutes has been abolished, said CHIAL spokesperson Prince Dildar.
The parking fee for cars has been reduced to Rs 30 from Rs 85 and for two-wheelers to Rs 10 from Rs 20 for the first 30 minutes. Thereafter up to 120 minutes, the older rates will be applicable: Rs 85 for cars and Rs 20 for two-wheelers.
After 120 minutes, Rs 20 per hour for car and Rs 10 per hour for two-wheeler will be levied.
The parking fee for commercial vehicles like tempo, SUV and minibus has been reduced by 70% from Rs 100 to Rs 30 and for coach, bus and trucks by 60% from Rs 100 to Rs 40 for the first 30 minutes. Thereafter till 120 minutes, Rs 100 will be charged.
For lane management, directorate general resettlement-sponsored traffic marshals have been appointed. They will minimize congestion and ensure that no vehicle overstays on the pick-up-drop lane. The tenders have been allotted for five years in concession to supply, install, test, commission and operate automated vehicle parking management system.
Automatic pay station will be designed
Express lane and auto gate/barrier will be installed in six months. The automatic pay station will be designed for the automatic processing of all payment transactions. Manual parking tokens and payment receipts will be strictly prohibited.
To ensure issues are properly prioritized and monitored, a grievance escalation matrix will be followed at all times and a complaint register maintained at all levels.
It has to be ensured that complaints and grievances are properly recorded with contact number and email ID of the complainant and so are the responses. Response time at each level will be minimum and reasonable. An agreement has been executed to monitor the services being provided by the licensee so that performance indicators and satisfaction levels are maintained.
