NEW DELHI: While pursuing the killers of a 25-year-old man, who was gunned down and stabbed in northeast Delhi on Monday, the cops also solved the murder of a Meerut based transporter, who was missing since June.
Multiple police teams were on the lookout for the killers of Vicky, murdered in Nand Nagri area by unidentified assailants. The victim himself had four criminal cases, including that of robbery and snatchings.
On Wednesday, cops nabbed Sumit alias Bowler (29), Ajay Tyagi (31) and Raj (22) for murdering Vicky. Police said that the trio had murdered Vicky after he roughed up Sumit and his brothers a week ago. Sumit had reportedly got into a fight with Vicky’s friend which started the fight between them.
Vicky was intercepted near MCD flats on Monday night and was first stabbed and then shot at multiple times.
On Wednesday, the accused were arrested from Loni and the two-wheeler used by them to escape from the site was also recovered. DCP (northeast) Atul Thakur confirmed the developments and said that the accused are being further questioned.
During interrogation, Tyagi, a resident of Modi Nagar confessed of another murder committed by him in June with the help of his friend Raj.
Tyagi told cops that he had murdered a Meerut based transporter, identified as Dhaniram. His body was found in the jungles of Dhantewala area near Meerut on June 21 but could not be identified. His wife had also filed a missing complaint the same day but the case remained unsolved till the confession of the duo.
It was revealed that Tyagi was in an illicit relationship with Dhaniram’s wife. On June 20, the transporter had caught Tyagi with his wife in a compromising position and threatened him of dire consequences.

He further told cops that after this incident, he, along with the transporter’s wife, decided to murder him. Tyagi called in his friend Raj and they took Dhaniram out for drinks on pretext of burying the hatchet and resolve the enmity.
However, the duo strangulated the transporter and then dumped his body in a drain before returning back to Delhi. The UP police has been alerted about the developments.
