NEW DELHI: Rebel AAP legislators
Devinder Sehrawat and
Anil Bajpai were disqualified on Thursday for joining BJP ahead of Lok Sabha elections earlier this year.
Sehrawat was elected from Bijwasan assembly segment while Bajpai had won from the Gandhi Nagar seat. While Bajpai had joined the BJP on May 3, Sehrawat switched over to BJP on May 6.
Sehrawat had earlier moved the Supreme Court challenging the disqualification notice served on him under the anti-defection law but the apex court had refused to hear his plea.
Both the legislators had also moved the Delhi high court stating they had not taken the BJP membership and the disqualification petition against them was not maintainable.
