New in-charge Osmania University VC reviews issues plaguing 100-year-old varsity

HYDERABAD: The Osmania University is all set to bolster linkages with the industry to facilitate placements, internships for students by tying up with bodies such as T-Hub.


The decision was taken during a review meeting held by Arvind Kumar, the new in-charge vice-chancellor of OU in the administrative building on Wednesday. During the meeting, the VC recalled his studies in overseas and suggested that the university should leverage information technology to access global resources for students.


He further added that the up keep, maintenance and landscaping should be of the varsity should be taken more intensely and stated that he would direct the department under his purview to help the administration to do the same.


"Issues and concerns regarding faculty shortage, funding and infrastructure should be addressed in a phased manner," said Kumar.


He also sought information on coaching for entrance to civil services, GRE, TOFEL, IELTS etc. He directed all the officials present to submit a short note on their respective units by this weekend.
