HYDERABAD:
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N
Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday sought to know if BJP did not want Telangana to be carved out.
Referring to Union home minister Amit Shah’s statement that the process adopted for creation of Telangana was unwarranted, he said United AP was divided after due consultations with all stakeholders.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Reddy condemned Shah's remarks, wherein the latter stated Telangana was created by shutting doors of Parliament. “It is a normal process that doors of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are closed whenever bills are put up for voting,” he added.
PM Narendra Modi and Shah criticised the bifurcation process of AP on multiple occasions. “Does it mean they disapprove creation of Telangana?” he asked. He pointed out that TRS MPs and
BJP Telangana leader remained silent when Shah made the controversial remarks in Parliament. “It is regrettable that TRS MPs remained silent,” he said. He also questioned silence of Telangana BJP leaders on the issue.
