Tourism secretary J Ashok Kumar said the third edition of GITM is being held following the earlier successful editions of 2011 and 2014.
“The entire global economy is focused on tourism as a key industry and tourists’ thirst to explore and experience is growing. That’s why events like GITM serve as an ideal platform for stakeholders to engage in a dialogue and improve business opportunities,” Kumar said.
Over 125 international buyers from USA, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Scandinavian, Baltics, Commonwealth of Independent States, Australia, New Zealand, Croatia, Bulgaria, Israel, Jordan, UAE, Middle East, Italy, Czech Republic, Russia, Poland, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Malaysia are expected to fly down to Goa to take part in the event.
More than 150 domestic buyers are confirming their participation, he added. Influential bloggers are also expected to attend the event.
The tourism department will turn its focus from road shows to promote Goa at international fairs and exhibition, Kumar said.
