India's first ODI against the West Indies was called off due to rain on Thursday. After winning the toss and opting to bowl, India started brilliantly with the ball, hitting right line and lengths in a match which was reduced to 43 overs. The West Indies' openers were cautious to begin with before Kuldeep Yadav provided India with the first breaktrhough. Kuldeep removed Chris Gayle who played a slow knock of four off 31 balls. The first rain break came after 5.4 overs were bowled and the match was reduced to a 34-over per side game. The second rain interruption came in the 13th over with West Indies having posted 54/1. The match was eventually called off as rain continued to pour in Guyana. Chris Gayle who started the match 12 runs short of Brian Lara's 10,405 ODI runs, the most by a West Indies batsman will be hoping to get past the record in the second ODI that will be played on Sunday. (SCORECARD)
